About Room Agreement
Room Agreement is an independent site about the practical side of sharing a home. We write about roommate and room-rental agreements: what to put in them, how to split rent and shared bills fairly, how to handle the security deposit between roommates, and how to work through guests, quiet hours, chores, and someone moving out early — calmly and without drama.
Who this is for
Renters splitting a place with friends or strangers, roommates trying to fix an arrangement that’s gone lopsided, and live-in landlords renting out a spare room. If you share a kitchen and a rent payment with someone, this site is for you.
What we believe
- Write it down early. A short agreement made while everyone’s on good terms prevents most conflict. It’s a conversation tool, not a weapon.
- Fair beats equal sometimes. A bigger bedroom, a bigger income, or a shorter stay can all justify an uneven split — as long as everyone agreed to it openly.
- Clarity is kindness. Naming the awkward stuff (guests, noise, dishes, money) up front is the friendliest thing you can do for a household.
